Spidery Cupcakes

A chocolate cake mix is used to make the spider cupcake bodies, and canned frosting is decorated with licorice legs, candy corn fangs, and red hot eyes.
Ingredients
- 1 18.25 ounce package chocolate cake mix
- 1 pound black shoestring licorice
- 1 16-ounce can white frosting
- 48 pieces candy corn
- 48 cinnamon red hot candies
- 1/4 cup orange-colored decorator sugar

Method
Prepare and bake cupcakes according to package directions. Let cool completely. Cut licorice into 3-inch lengths. Working with only a few cupcakes at a time so that the frosting doesn't set before decorating, frost cupcake tops with white frosting. Insert licorice pieces into outer edges of the frosting to make spider legs, 3 legs on each side. Place two pieces of candy corn at the front edge of cupcake, pointed downward, for fangs, and use two red hots placed slightly above as eyes. Sprinkle with decorator sugar. Repeat with remaining cupcakes.
Notes: A big hit with kids.
